Forgiveness: Always easier said then done

You’ve ever had someone wrong you so bad that you just know you never want to associate with them and you can’t forgive them?

At some point in our lives we’ve all been in the position where we’ve had to choose to forgive someone. Let’s face it, it’s hard most of the times.

A  devotion in my bible reads, ” When we choose unforgiveness, we put ourselves in bondage to those very people whom we believe wronged us. They consume our thoughts and feelings and even affect how we treat others.”

When I first read this it resonated with me because it lined up with some things I have realized since leaving home for college.

In Mark 11:25-26*, the bible says this: “25 And whenever you stand prayng, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” (*some Bible versions have verse 26 in the footnotes.)

I’ve struggled a bit with forgiveness over the past few years, but I learned that sometimes you have to forgive, even if the person is not sorry. Sometimes forgiveness is not for the other party, it’s for you. Your peace of mind. Your clarity. Your mental health.

“Forgive and forget” is a saying that is always thrown around. It is always easier said than done. Without a doubt there are some things that people will do that honestly, there’s really no coming back from. You just have to forgive them and move on without them and THAT IS OKAY. Don’t let them have a power over your feelings. Be free.

Be Blessed loves!
